The difference in reading about and travelling in Iran.

Mountains around Masuleh I can still hear my mum screaming: ‘Iran!? What the hell you’re doing there!?’ But after she read my guide book she changed already her mind and wanted to come with me! :-)
And when you finally set foot into Iran your mind about the country will change similar!

The people are just fantastic! Super friendly, helpful and interested! And by far not anti western, fanatic or in any kind different then we are. Well, as Iran is still a dictatorship, people are forced to certain rules – including clothes: Women of course have to wear a headscarf (which is pretty annoying when temperature is over 25 degrees) and men are obliged to wear long trousers – otherwise the guardians are coming and beat you up! I didn’t see this, but heard about.
Imam Square, Esfahan But people life with it (hoping for another change) and arrange themselves (at home they can do what they want! :-) and kept a positive thinking and way of living! And that’s what you feel! The laugh on the streets and love to make picnic whenever and wherever they can! In evening time all the parks are full of Iranians preparing barbecue! And when you are in Iran you won’t get away without being invited for dinner at least three times – invitations for tea are countless!

The landscape is superb as well – it’s not just dessert as you might think, but the biggest variety of landscapes I have every seen: All-time snowy summits like Damavan in the north of Tehran, green valleys, hills and mountains which look like in Switzerland and of course desserts - but also in a big variety: rocky desserts, sand dessert, flach and mountain desserts. Then you have a coast with lovely beaches (well, maybe too hot in summer) and finally cities with a range from small, grey and abandoned to green, clean, beautiful with rivers and parks and springs like in Esfahan.

Camel around Chakchak It’s a country for the perfect combination for doing sightseeing, meeting people, do sports (mountain) and relax!

Go there and widen your horizon! It’s worth the trip – and it’s still cheap! :-)
